INDUSTRY Discussion
Businessweek has an
article discussing the use of bio-materials in electronics:
http://www.businessweek.com/technology/content/mar2008/tc20080317_387901.htm?link_position=link1
As cellphone companies and other manufacturers look for newer, lighter,
and more functional materials to manufacturer electronics, recyclers
need to be prepared to face the challenges of these new materials at
end of life. Many of these engineered materials could provide a
health risk at end of life processing. A hope of the industry
would be that end of life concerns are actually included in the
evaluation of these materials to insure that solving one product issue
does not cause an even greater issue at disposal.
