IT Organizations Charged With Doing More With Less in 2012

The results of a Gartner survey of CIOs released Jan. 18 show that IT organizations around the world are facing increased priorities with “flat IT budgets in 2012.”  Worldwide, budgets increased an average of just half a percent, while spending is decreasing in North America and Europe.

Corporate Responsibility Should Include Focus on ITAD Programs

Corporate responsibility (CR) programs are on the rise among the business world, according to a recent study by Corporate Responsibility Magazine. The study found that 72 percent of all companies had formal CR programs in 2011, up from 62 percent in 2010. Adding more traction to the growth is that 62 percent of companies have a lead CR role, or corporate responsibility officer, and more than 60 percent have dedicated CR budgets.

E-waste Recovery Growing Three Times Faster than Other Waste Streams

A new study released this month from SBI Energy indicates that electronic waste is growing three times faster than any other type of waste. The report, “E-Waste Recycling and Reuse Services Worldwide,” also showed a market growth of 10 percent, increasing from $6.2 billion in 2009 to $6.8 billion. The study predicts e-waste collection services can expect to triple by 2020.
